JENNIFER GUIDI
American artist Jennifer Guidi (b. 1972, California) was born in Redondo Beach, California and is now based in Los Angeles. She received a BFA from Boston University and an MFA from the School of Art Institute of Chicago. Through her art, Guidi explores the tactile sense by combining sand, acrylic, oil, and pigments on linen. Lines molded from sand spiral from a centerpoint on her work creating a hypnotic landscape only seen in dreams. Her patterns allude to the Hinduist belief of chakras, that every type of energy has a focal point.
Guidi’s solo exhibitions include the Orange County Museum of Art, California; Long Museum West Bund, Shanghai; Museo Villa Croce, Italy; and LAXART, Los Angeles. She also participated in group exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Sammlung Goetz, Munich; National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.; and Hammer Museum, Los Angeles.
