Bathala 3

Mixed yarns, stainless steel framing, stainless steel wires
2016

Bathala interweaves the artist’s personal journey across spatial and temporal contexts, from her humble artworld beginnings to international exhibition platforms. The work is mutable and ever-evolving, with each addition of hue, pattern, and texture corresponding to the accretion of memories and epiphanies the artist has acquired over the years. Indeed the work concurs with the exhibit’s emphasis on the communicative potential of textile – as embodied collective knowledge, as personal memory, or as the body’s open-ended script that highlights struggle and defiance.
