Arguably one of the most recognizable images created by Banksy, the Girl with Balloon depicts a child reaching out towards a bright red, heart-shaped balloon.

In its simplicity, the imagery captures human emotions that even the ambiguity of the mural cannot conceal. The work is often used as a symbol for many global issues that Banksy comments on.

Girl with Balloon appears in many versions. The one in Waterloo Bridge is accompanied by the epitaph “There is Always Hope”, further solidifying its message.
