Banksy
Armoured Dove of Peace
Palestinian Heritage Center, Bethlehem
2003
The mural depicts a dove donned in a bulletproof vest. A crosshair appears on the dove’s chest, highlighting the vulnerability and the apparent rejection for the call of peace.
It serves as a commentary on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that is still continuing today.
The work is often associated with Picasso’s Guernica where a dove is helplessly injured to express the violence that comes with war.
