Michelangelo Pistoletto (b. 1933) began his artistic career with figurative painting, eventually including sculpture and performance into his body of work. His use of humble and discarded objects such as old clothes marked his place in the Arte Povera movement. Pistoletto is known for his “minus objects” sculptures which explore the process of how objects transform into artworks through the ideas they convey.
