Gianni Caravaggio (b. 1968) is an artist working primarily with sculpture. He studied under Luciano Fabro, also an artist associated with Arte Povera. Caravaggio’s works suggest that visual and physical experiences are links to our reflections and are able to question our thoughts. There is a concern for metaphysics in his art that verges on a cosmological nature, often inviting viewers to confront their own imaginations.

  • The installation is composed of a tangled mass of fishing lines on the ground, with two colored strings crossing it in a perpendicular manner. The yellow string moves straight through while blue thread lays delicately on top of the nylon, outlining its irregular contours. The scene then becomes a minimal landscape of a sun ray and a voluminous cloud, inviting quiet contemplation and thoughtful imaginings.
