Curatorial Intensive in Manila

November 15 to 21, 2016


The MET hosted twelve early and mid-career curators from the Philippines and abroad that underwent specialized seminars, one-on-one meetings and visited various art sites in the metro to develop new skills and perspectives on various aspects of curatorial work.

Organized with the Independent Curators International (ICI), with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Office of Senator Loren Legarda.


Curatorial Intensive Symposia

November 22, 2016


Renowned curators working with institutions in emerging and established art centers around the world opened their conversations on contemporary curatorial issues to the public. Renaud Proch, Joselina Cruz, CosminCostinas and Maria Lind spoke to an audience of professionals and students in the fields of visual arts, curatorial studies and arts management. Organized with the Independent Curators International (ICI), with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Office of Senator Loren Legarda.


Art Appreciation Workshop for Teachers

November 23 to 25, 2016


Fifty-four public school teachers from Manila and provinces including Quezon, Bicol and Leyte listened to lectures ranging from pre-colonial to contemporary Philippine art and participated in various activities that reveal how the museum could serve as an educational complement to their regular classroom lessons. This workshop is organized with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Tingin-Tuklas: The Art of Looking

Fifty-four local community enforcers from different barangays in Manila come together for a workshop on visual perception. Honing their skills in detail observation and situational inquiry, Manila barangay officials were given a series of observation exercises within the museum galleries.

Gold and Pottery Galleries: Monday - Friday 10:00am to 4:30pm
